Our Canadian operation, Canaccord Genuity Corp., is currently looking for an Associate to join their Equity Research – Metals & Mining team in Toronto.

  • Provide research support to the Research Analyst through analysis, modeling, and impactful communication;
  • Conduct company, industry and macro-economic research;
  • With limited instruction and guidance, perform error-free and insightful analysis, financial or otherwise;
  • Coordinate, generate and maintain research reports, presentations and databases;
  • Develop and maintain complex financial models;
  • Assist with coordinating quarterly reporting initiatives;
  • Support and answer client queries;
  • Assist with special projects, presentations and initiatives as assigned;
  • Respond to a variety of internal and/or external requests, many of which will not be standard and will require an advanced problem-solving approach.

Skills & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, geology, engineering, or a related field. Additional specialized education, such as CFA progression or masters level degree or equivalent would be beneficial;
  • 2 to 5 years’ experience in Investment Banking, Management Consulting or Public Accounting, preferably with exposure to the mining industry or another natural resource industry. Experience in metals trading will also be considered;
  • Experience with and exposure to financial and strategic modelling in an asset-intensive industry (preferably mining);
  • Experience in reading, understanding, and analyzing financial statements and NI 43-101 technical reports;
  • Expert level skills in PowerPoint and Excel with the ability to build financial models and perform complex analysis;
  • Expert level skills with Bloomberg and/or FactSet;
  • Direct experience with and a solid understanding of financial modeling, valuation analysis, statistical analysis, and portfolio management;
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail;
  • Ability to create high-quality deliverables while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment;
  • Well organized and able to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Solid work ethic with a demonstrated ability to work long hours and handle significant variations in workload;
  • A high level of energy and a keen desire to learn.
